Our Story

Jared became a licensed Land Surveyor in 2008, after earning his Associate’s Degree and completing his internships. He has been surveying since 2004 and is an active member of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors. An Alumni of AB-Tech Community College, Jared worked eleven years as lead instructor in the Geomatics department. Even though his focus has shifted to surveying full-time, he still teaches up-and-coming surveyors preparing for their licensing tests at conferences and intensive sessions.

Being an instructor requires knowledge of cutting edge technology, a keen understanding of Board requirements, and maintaining professional development. The North Carolina Society of Surveyors has pushed Ownbey Land Surveying to strive for excellence, and the educational opportunities and networking with other professional peers are valuable to Jared. In addition to being an active member of the local chapter, he currently serves on the Society’s Education Committee.

Between running a business and managing survey crews, Jared still donates his time to the local community. He enjoys the chance to play bass and cello at his local church. He also sits on planning communities for his county.

Jared enjoys living in beautiful North Carolina with his wife and two daughters and can’t find a reason why everyone shouldn’t be clamoring for the chance to go surveying!
